Helping You stay safe online

no technical skills needed

InfoSecHelp LLC was founded by Siggi Bjarnason in 2019 after noticing a trend in the cybersecurity training he found very disturbing. As he was wrapping up master’s studies in the field of cybersecurity, which is a field that deals with how to make all aspects of online safe and secure, he found it very hard to find training that average computer users could understand and connect with.

A lot of the material that he was finding used a lot of highly technical terms and seemed to assume the reader understood them. Additionally, the industry is driven by something that has been termed FUD, Fear Uncertainty and Doubt. There appears to be a concerted effort to scare the living daylights out of everyone without actually explaining anything or providing any actionable steps. All of it seems to boil down to “Warning! Your life, your house, your family could be at risk! Immediately buy Product X to keep you safe!”

The reality is that, yes, we are living in scary times, and if you are not careful, it is easy to be scammed or tricked into doing something you regret. However, to stay safe, you need to understand the threats and know how to handle them. No product is going to just automatically keep you safe. Also, online safety is not a one size fits all. Everyone has different backgrounds and different needs and requires a personalized approach to online safety. Rather than just spoonfeed everyone on what they should be doing, we like to help folks think about and research what threats might be facing them and give them a number of options on how to handle this.

Our goal is to develop training that is accessible to everyone. Not just computer experts or the rich and famous, but everyone that uses computers regularly. As you know, that smartphone you’re holding as well as iPad’s and tablets are modern miniature computers. If you shop online, bank online, use Facebook, Twitter, and other social media, you are our target audience. The less you know about those things, the more you will get out of our training, but all skill levels, abilities, and walks of life are welcome.

We love to engage with people, find out what questions you have, etc. If you have feedback or suggestions we would love to hear them. So go ahead and reach out to us and lets chat. Various contact options are on the contact page
